Chapel Meeting

Description

It was then that he heard singing, like the singing one hears from a church choir. The song drove the lurking shadows and demons away, as if the notes themselves could melt the skin off their bones. No doubt, it was a holy song, praising Christ.

A nagging curiosity tingled in the back of his mind, and after a moment's hesitation, followed the music.

As he walked cautiously down the long, decrepit hallway, he noticed a blue light at the end, creeping up his shoes.

Finally, he reached the end, and almost immediately became immersed in pale, oceanic light.

His eyes trailed the chamber. It was a small chapel, indeed, in deplorable state. God knows why Dracula would have one in his castle.

The singing was at it's loudest in this room. It calmed his nerves, covering his troubles away until he almost forgot why he had come.

For reasons unknown to him, he wanted to be closer to the music. As if in a trance, he allowed himself to move forward.

Almost immediately, an evil smell filled his nose, snapping him out of his relaxed state.

Vampire.

Near the statue of Virgin Mary was a girl with blue hair and black and white clothing. Beside her was a main gauche with a holy inscription on it. She looked like she was praying.

As her song ended, the blue fire around them died down a little. Her clasped hands came undone as she muttered something inaudible to the statue.

The girl picked up the sword and rose to her feet. Her head was downcast as she turned around, most likely to exit.

Suddenly, her head whipped up, and bright red orbs widened in surprise. She let out a yelp, and stumbled backwards, almost knocking over the sacred statue.

He waited for her to catch her breath, almost as surprised as she was. This poor girl couldn't be a vampire, or else she would have burned away from the holy power.

Then she spoke, with a voice contrasting the boldness of her song. "Are you...are you one of them?"

"No. Are you?" he asked. The girl jumped a little when the words left his mouth. She looked intimidated by him.

Her dull blue curls bounced as she shook her head in reply.

"What are you doing here, sir?" she asked, allowing herself to be unbraced by the statue, "You shan't be here. Unholy things lie in wait for blood in this place."

"I was going to ask you the same thing, child," he replied, "What are YOU doing here?"

The girl's lips pursed as the word "child" was drawn from his mouth.

"If you have to know, I am on a mission..." she muttered.

"A mission? What mission?"

"I must kill Dracula."

He paused, shocked. Was this girl sick? One as young as she was could NOT defeat Dracula. It was impossible.

"Are you insane?" he said, his voice rising slightly, "You need to go home, now."

She lowered her head. "I am perfectly sane, good sir," she murmured, "I was ordered to kill him."

"Ordered? By whom?"

"The convent I live...used to live in."

He glared slightly. "Why did they send someone as young as you are to defeat Dracula?"

"Because...I do not know, I was just handed this sword and sent on my way."

The toe of her shoe tapped against her heel. Her teeth ground together.

"...what makes you think you can defeat him?" he asked, trying to make her less nervous.

A small smile crossed her face. "He and I crossed paths once. I tried to strike him down, but he threw me out the window like a doll before I could do anything.

"It's been a year since then...and I've gotten stronger."

Once again, shock found its way onto his face.

"Do you mean to tell me that Dracula has been for a year, and the Belmonts weren't notified?!" he yelled.

She flinched, squeezing her eyes shut.

He sighed. Then he remembered the vampiric scent he had noticed before.

"Child...what are you?"

Those red orbs peered into his own silver ones, fear apparent in them.

"...I am nothing but a servant of the Lord."

She bent over to a blue flame that was burning in a candle on the floor. A gloved hand covered the fire, putting it out.

Again, he sighed, waiting for her to finish putting out the holy flames.

"...since you refuse to leave this castle, I suppose I will have to take you with me."

She smiled. "I will...make good use of myself..."

The gloved hands were brushed together before she looked up at him again. "What shall I call you, sir?"

"...Alucard."

"Do you have a last name?"

"...what may I call you then, child?"

She let a little surprised huff fall from her lips. "...Ina. Ina Krausse."

UPDATE: 5/1/11
Bad writing is bad! 8D

LULZ SPRITEZ PLZ.
:iconbratarehappyplz:

I used a Maria Renard sprite for Ina, since their outfits are so alike. o3o It was hard making it. T^T

I had to toggle the color with the backgrounds and the statue...Alucard didn't need any fixing. xD

Anyway, I hope you like the picture and the story, so...yeah, the end! :D

(PS: This is during SOTN.)

EDIT 9/11/10
I have found a reason for the signifigance of this chapel room, besides the fact that it's where Alucard would pick up Ina.

In this room, if it or Ina was actually in the GAME, it would serve as a fully heal spot, meaning, it would give you back all your health, all your magic, and all your hearts, but there is only one in the castle, and there's no way to teleport to it. If you wanted to get to it, you would have to travel ALL THE WAY back to it, and it would not be marked specifically on the map, like save points and such.

...yeah, that's about it. o3o

Nice story, you know how to make someone read, though I must say, Alucard isn´t that jumpy, he is a more to himself words kind of person, wise and precise in words, I say this because of the "Are you insane line" !! Other than that, nice job, will keep an eye out for you!!
